J.F. Duo

J.F. Duo are a versatile duo, bringing a unique mix of pop, rock and easy listening from the 50’s to the present day, suitable for any occasion.   From a stripped back acoustic set, to full-band sound using our own unique custom made backing tracks, J.F. Duo can suit any venue or any occasion.

Based in Suffolk, both Mat and Jackie have a wealth of experience performing in the music industry, clocking up over 40 years between them, and bring a high level of musicality and professionalism to any event anywhere in the UK.

Having played alongside each other in various projects over the last 18 years, it was a natural progression for them to take it to another level and create the stripped back, easily listening acoustic sound they both love, and with Mat's talents in the studio as a producer as well as a musician, J.F. Duo have grown to become both acoustic and full-band sound to suit any venue or event.

J.F. can create the perfect atmosphere for any party, wedding reception, event or occasion, playing a variety of different styles from laid back romantic love songs, to upbeat party and sing along tunes, and can tailor their set to your requirements, even taking requests in advance to add that special touch.

They have a small footprint and can fit into the tiniest of spaces, or can fill a stage with a larger set up, both of which include a fully PAT tested professional sound and lighting system to create the atmosphere you need for a successful event.  They can also fill any breaks before, in between and after sets with background music to keep the atmosphere going.  All you need to supply is a power source and shelter, and we provide the rest.

Choose from several standard length sets, from just 1 hour, 2 x 45 minutes, or 2 x 1 hour, or request your own unique requirements to fit in with your event.

How we got our name ...  We are often asked where we got the name James's Field.  Well, it's a long story!  James was a horse that lived in a field on Valley Road in Ipswich, and when my mum was a little girl, her father would drive past the field with her and her siblings in the car, and they would all greet James as they went past with a "morning James" and fly down the hill when grandad put the 'booster rocket' on ... don't tell the police ... Fast forward a few years, and mum would do the very same with me and my sister as we passed James's field, only by this point James had somehow morphed into a scarecrow, strange!  Obviously I continued the tradition with my boys, although they're way too cool to admit it at the moment.  I was telling Mat this story as we drove past James's field one day, and he thought it would be an excellent name for our new duo ... I wonder if he's regretted that decision yet, as people who meet us for the first time always call him James ha!  

Update! - Some of you may have noticed we have shortened "James's Field" to J.F. Duo!  This is for ease as we were finding we were being billed as James Field Duo quite a lot.  Those pesky apostrophes!  We think J.F. Duo is cute though x
